Having been given the green-light by the Government to begin treating clients again with effect from 13th July, it had been a battle to obtain concise information as to what therapists should/should not be doing upon re-opening, as a result I delayed my starting date until Monday 20th July, to ensure everything is in place.
While I am very excited to be able to support you in person again, it is only natural that you might have one or two concerns about resuming close contact with someone outside of your household.
As such, I would like to start by letting you know some of the measures I have put in place to help protect your health and wellbeing at this time:
• I am following guidelines issued by the government, NHS and my professional association, the Federation of Holistic Therapists, regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of any personal protective equipment (PPE).
• I have carried out a full risk assessment of my therapy business to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19).
• I have completed a certified infection control course and introduced enhanced cleaning and hygiene procedures to my practice, together with purchasing an air purifier with HPE filter so that even during your visit the air will be getting purified.
• I will be closely monitoring my own health, and that of my clients, to ensure neither party is put at risk of contracting COVID-19.
Before your next visit I will be sending out a screening form. Please fill this in as it is super important!
Please do not book in if you or anyone you know has tested positive for Covid19 in the previous 2 weeks before your appointment of if you have any of the following symptoms:
A new and continuous cough
Loss of taste or smell
A persistent high fever.
Like everything else, therapy rooms, as we knew them, will look and feel very different as we enter this new normal. No soft furnishings allowed which cannot be disinfected, no extra comfort on the couch like my 3” memory foam mattress – everything on the couch has to be replaced after each client to avoid the risk of passing on COVID19 – so three towels on the couch, two used for cover-ups and one for a head pillow = 5 towels per client, plus change of uniform, that’s a lot of laundry!
The guidelines have changed, the sanitising protocol has increased and I will now wear a face shield and a mask and change my uniform after each client. Treatment times are required to be kept to a minimum so my longest session will now be 45 minutes at present with consultations to be performed by telephone beforehand and a new COVID19 declaration to be completed before treatment.
To keep all my clients and myself safe has been quite an undertaking in both time and resources.
The extra purchase of disinfectants, gloves, face shields, masks, sanitizers, towels, air purifiers, uniforms etc has been a little overwhelming.
On top of that, I have had to consider the fact that I will need more time in between clients to clean and ventilate the room, resulting in fewer clients in a day.
As a result I am going to be changing my opening hours, the length of treatments offered and (you knew this was coming…) the cost of my treatments, in order to operate my business safely (and to keep on top of the laundry!)
My new hours are:
Monday 9.30am – 12.30pm
Tuesday 9.30am – 12.30pm
Wednesday 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Friday 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Saturday 10am – 1pm
My new treatment times and prices are:
30 minutes £30
45 minutes £40
